Dream of Breaking Tyson's Record Shattered: Itauma Falls to Hrgovic, Leaves on Stretcher

On August 29 at The O2 Arena in London, 21-year-old prodigy Moses Itauma suffered a devastating TKO loss in the 9th round to 34-year-old veteran Filip Hrgovic in an IBF heavyweight title fight. The defeat ended Itauma's dream of breaking Mike Tyson's 40-year record as the youngest heavyweight champion. Itauma dominated the first 7 rounds but faded dramatically due to poor stamina management, allowing Hrgovic to turn the tide. Itauma left the ring on a stretcher with a serious leg injury and was hospitalized. Promoter Frank Warren emphasized health and a long break. Hrgovic became Croatia's first heavyweight champion. The loss permanently closes the record window and resets Itauma's career trajectory, highlighting the gap between hype and championship readiness.
